The Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) has been named Employer of Choice, Public Sector and NFP, at the Australian HR Awards 2023.
The award recognises the best public sector or not-for-profit organisation to work for in Australia, and is judged on leadership, engagement, communication and employee benefits.
AFCA was also shortlisted as an Excellence Awardee for Best Leadership Development Program.
The award winners were announced at a gala dinner on 1 September 2023.
Over the last 12 months, AFCA has delivered a number of initiatives, including refining AFCA’s learning and leadership development programs, launching AFCA’s Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging strategy and making significant improvements to leave entitlements.
This latest award comes recently after AFCA was named as one of the top 5 best places to work in Australia’s financial services sector in the AFR Boss Best Places to Work list.
“We are proud to be recognised in this way and extend our congratulations to all other winners,” Chief Ombudsman and Chief Executive Officer David Locke said.

About AFCA
The Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) is a non-government ombudsman service providing free, fair and independent help with financial disputes. It is a one-stop-shop for consumers and small businesses who have a dispute with their financial firm, over things such as banking, credit, insurance, advice, investments or superannuation. Where an agreement cannot be reached between parties, AFCA can issue decisions that are binding on financial firms.
